Words of Wisdom from our childhood days.
The wonder of childhood at the local library.
Even from deep within the fictional world of celebrated children’s stories, messages of courage abound. And these are not just meant for our children. We can take heart from the world of our own childhood.
Reflecting on one of my favourite’s as a child, the stories that emanate from A. A. Milne’s, Hundred Acre Wood, were truly magical.
Because I gravitate toward the whole idea of courage and fortitude, I thought a small grain of wisdom inspired by Winnie and his friends would be just the thing to take a moment’s pause from these turbulent times of ours.
Piglet’s Courage Under Fire!
Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends were in a conundrum over how to fix Owl’s house, which had been flattened from a blusterous wind.
Piglet told them that all was not lost, and it would just take a good dose of Courage!
But courage did not always require a blusterous approach - as the wind caused the felling of Owl’s tree - but a logical one. So Piglet suggested they find a piece of thin rope, or a thick piece of string. That would solve it!
Thinking outside the box was what that little piglet did; if he couldn’t find the right tool, being rope, he would improvise with an enhanced version of something similar.
Pooh Bear was happy as he sung about the incident, as he always sang about every incident that occurred in the Hundred Acre Wood.
And of course, this was the story - it was Pooh Bear’s version of what would happen if the Friends were able to fix Owl’s broken house.
Nothing was right for Winnie until he made up a song!
Moral of the story?
~ Improvisation is key.
~ Take a more gleeful approach, rather than a gloomy one.
Speaking of gloomy - I wonder what Eeyore was doing while Pooh and Piglet were planning? Poor ol’ Eeyore…🫏
