Not all that has shaped the past was set down.

We follow the known as far as it allows; beyond that, imagination takes its place.

These collected pieces are part of that mystery.

This is where the made-up things live, in both tales and verse.

They are my own imaginings.

Inscription in Verse

This is an experiment in form: a poem set as inscription, where verse assumes the weight and stillness of carved words. It is not yet part of the main body of my work, but stands slightly apart as an attempt to recover something of the old world and the relationship between poetry, memory, and monument.

It should be read as a Fragment, very much part of the many fragments of literature and inscriptions left to us from the ancient world.
